SQUARE OF PŘEMYSL OTAKAR II.
The largest square in the Czech Republic with its regular square layout belongs to the most important remains of gothic architecture. Not only is it exceptional due to its area (2 ha) but also its system of streets at the corners and in the middle of each side is unique. Right on the square there is a number of valuable historical buildings.

TOWN GALLERY
Exhibitions of fine arts take place in the exhibition hall all year round, during summer season the cultural life of the town is enriched with exhibitions in the gallery inside the Belfry.

REGIONAL MUSEUM IN VYSOKÉ MÝTO
The exposition „Cabinet of Militaria“ will take you through the history of the local garrison. You will learn of the Josef Sodomka company, its history and some products made there.

CHOCEŇ TOWER CALLED ALSO „KARASKA“
An ancient tower from the 13th century, keeps its shape to the present times, only a Gothic roof was replaced by a typical Baroque dome. Until 1844 there stood the Choceň Gate and another lower tower.
REMAINS OF THE TOWN FORTIFICATION WITH STONE MEMORIAL PLAQUES
The original walls surround nearly half the historic centre. Since the period of Czech resurgence, at some parts of the walls in Jungmann Park there have been placed memorial plaques commemorating significant events in the life of the town.
LITOMYŠL GATE
The original gate with two towers, destroyed by fire, was reconstructed and built in the Neogothic style in the 2nd half‚ of the 19th century. At the beginning of the 20th century Mikoláš Aleš decorated the gate with his fresco showing Saint George fighting the dragon.
CHURCH OF SAINT LAWRENCE
The church was probably built in the second half of the 13th century. Its unique Art Nouveau interior covers frescos and is decorated with Baroque altar painting of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary by Petr Brandl, which is the greatest painter's work (703x296 cm) in the Czech lands. Inside the church there is also a remarkable tin baptistery from the year of 1499. Your visit to the church is possible when agreed at the presbytery near the church.

BELFRY
A renaissance building constructed in the 2nd half of the 16th century to keep the bells of St. Lawrence Church. At present there are exhibition spaces for temporary seasonal exhibitions of the Town Gallery.
PRAGUE GATE
The best preserved part of the former fortifications from the 13th century. From Prague Tower you will have a fascinating view of the old town and its surroundings, you can even see the mountains Orlické hory and Krkonoše. In front of the gate there is a statue standing, the statue of Přemysl Otakar II., called “iron and gold king”, founder of Vysoké Mýto and more than fifty other towns in the Czech Republic and Central Europe.
